Scrap yarn in yellow, blue, purple, brown, dark blue, purple/white, green/white, multicolored blue/green/white yarn (4ply), green, brown (6 ply), orange/white (lace), 100 % wool in white.

Yellow yarn and crochet hook size 4.0.

Make 2.

Row 1. Ch 10. Turn. (Turning ch becomes 1st dc). Sc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in chs to end. Turn.

Row 2 – 5. Dc in dc to end. 10 dc.

Begin crochet wheel socket:

Row 6. Dc in next 7 dc. Turn.

Row 7. Sk 1st dc, dc in next 6 dc. Turn.

Row 11. Ch 3, turn, dc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next ch, dc in dc to end.

Crochet Front of Kombi Bus

Yellow yarn and crochet hook size 4.0.

Make 2.

Row 1. Ch 10, dc in 2nd ch from hook, (turning ch in 1st dc), dc in remaining dc to end. Turn.

Row 2 – 3. Dc in dc. Turn.

Row 4. Sl st in next 2 dc, dc in dc to end. Turn.

Row 5. Dc in next 6 dc, sl st in next dc, sl st in next dc. Turn.

Row 6. Sl st in next dc, sc in remaining sc. Turn.

Row 7. Dc in next 4 dc, sl st in next dc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Attach to bottom side of kombi with wrong sides together and using dc stitches and purple yarn.

Crochet Triangle in the middle of the front using blue yarn. 

Row 1. Ch 6, dc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in ch to end, turn.

Row 2. Sl st in next dc, dc to last dc, sl st in last dc, turn.

Row 3. Sl st in next 2 sts, dc in dc to last 2 dc, sl st in 2 dc, turn.

Row 4. Sl st in sl st, dc in dc, sl st in sl st.

Attach triangle to the front of kombi with dc using purple yarn.

Crochet Top of the front.

With blue yarn, and crochet hook size 4.0.

Row 1. Ch 7, dc in 2nd ch from hook (turning ch in 1st dc), dc in remaining ch to end. Turn.

Row 2. Dc in dc to end.

Begin crochet window frame.

Row 3. Dc in next 2 dc. Turn.

Row 4-11. Rep row 2. Turn.

Crochet back of the kombi Bus.

Make 1 with yellow yarn and crochet hook size 4.0.

Attach to bottom side of kombi with the wrong side together and using dc stitches and purple yarn.

Top of back.

With blue yarn and crochet hook size 4.0.

Begin crochet window frame.

The roof of the Kombi Bus

Blue yarn and crochet hook size 4.0

Row 1. Ch 14, (turning ch in 1st dc), dc in 2nd ch from hook. Turn.

Row 2-40. Dc in dc to end. Turn. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Attach roof of Kombi by stitching a zipper to roof and side of kombi (see image) all the way except the front of the kombi bus.

Attach 4 ply green and white yarn in stitches around zipper on the outside of the side of the kombi bus with 2 dc in each st, ch 2, all around. Attach 4 ply purple and white yarn in stitches on the roof of the outside of kombi with 2 dc in each st, ch 2, all around. Continue crochet front of roof and front of top kombi together with dc tog with dc.

Crochet Kombi Bus Seats.

Make 3.

Brown yarn and crochet hook size 3.0.

Row 1. Ch 9, dc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in ch to end. Turn.

Row 2-6. Dc in dc to end. Turn. Fasten off.

Begin crochet backrest. Reattach yarn with sc around sc row 5.

Row 1. Dc around dc round 5.

Row 2-5. Dc in dc. Turn. Fasten off.

Use purple yarn and crochet dc in outer dc around kombi bus seats.

Use 28 gauge wire and string through the outer dc to keep kombi bus seats from curling up.

Crochet wheels.

Dark blue yarn and crochet hook size 4.0.

Make 4.

Row 1. Ch 2, 9 dc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in 1st dc.

Row 2. Dc in dc.

Row 3. *Dc in dc, 2 dc in next dc*, repeat between ** to end, sl st in 1st dc.

Row 4. Dc in dc to end. Sl st in 1st dc.

Row 5. 2 dc in each dc to end. Sl st in 1st dc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Use a sewing needle and attach wheels to sides of kombi.

Crochet Steering-wheel

Dark blue yarn and crochet hook size 3.0.

Row 1. Ch 2, turn, 10 dc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in 1st dc.

Row 2. *Ch 5, turn, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st back to circle, sl st in next 2 dc in circle*, repeat between ** 4 times. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Row 3. Reattach yarn in tip of ‘arm’ with sl st, *ch 8, sl st in next ‘arm’*, repeat between ** all around. Fasten off. Weave in ends. With a sewing needle, stitch purple yarn through the chains of last row. Fasten off. Weave in ends. Reattach purple yarn in first row, and stitch the purple yarn through the stitches of row 2.

Attach the steering wheel to the inside front of the bus using a sewing needle.

White yarn and crochet hook size 3.0

Row 1. Ch 10, (turning ch in 1st dc), dc in 2nd ch from hook. Turn.

Row 2-5. Dc in dc to end. Turn.

Row 6. 2 dc in 1st dc, dc in remaining dc until last dc, 2 dc in last dc. Turn.

Row 7-8. Dc in dc to end. Turn.

Row 9. Rep row 6.

Row 10- 22. Dc in dc to end. Turn. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Row. 23. 2 dc tog, dc in each dc to last 2 dc, 2 dc tog. Turn.

Row 24. Rep row 6.

Row 25. Rep row 23. Turn.

Use multicolored blue/green/white yarn to edge by dc in dc all around.

Begin crochet head.

Use white wool 4 ply and crochet hook size 3.0.

Round 1. Ch 2, turn, 9 dc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in 1st dc.

Round 2. *Dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc*, repeat all around, sl st in 1st dc.

Round 3-4. Dc in dc around.

Round 4. Dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next 2 dc, dc in remaining dc to end.

Round 5-6. Dc in dc all around.

Round 7. Dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next 3 dc, dc in remaining dc.

Round 8. *Dc in next dc, 2 dc tog*, repeat between ** until end. Fill in stuffing.

Repeat row 8 until hole is closed.

Crochet nose.

Ch 2, turn, 3 dc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in 1st dc. Fasten off. Weave in ends. Attach to head.

Stitch eyes using sewing needle. 

Attach hair with strings of multicolored brown yarn and sl st. 

Crochet body. 

Round 1. Ch 2, 6 dc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in 1st dc.

Round 2 -3 . Dc in dc to end.

Round 4. 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc to end.

Round 5-7 Dc in dc to end.

Round 8. 2 dc tog, dc in next 3 dc, dc in remaining dc to end.

Round 9. Dc in dc to end. Fill in stuffing. Fasten off. Sl st hole together. Weave in ends.

Stitch round 1 of the body to the final round of head.

Crochet arms

Make 2.

Round 1. Ch 2, 4 dc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in 1st dc.

Round 2-8. Dc in dc to end.

Crochet hands.

(Ch 3, sl st in next st) x 4, ch 1, dc in next st.

Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Crochet legs

Make 2.

Round 1. Ch 2, 5 dc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in 1st dc.

Round 2-12. Dc in dc to end.

Crochet feet.

(Ch 2, sl st in next st) x 3.

Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Crochet shirt.

Use green yarn 6 ply and crochet hook size 3.0

Make 2.

Row 1. Ch 9, turn, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next ch, dc in remaining chs, turn.

Row 2-6. Dc in next 6 dc.

Row 7. Ch 3, turn, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next ch, dc in dc to end.

*Ch 2, sl st in next dc*, continue between ** all around shirt.

Slip stitch front and back together around hippie’s upper body.

Crochet trousers

With brown yarn 6 ply a crochet hook size 3.0. Make 4.

Row 1. Ch 7, turn, dc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in remaining ch to end. Turn.

Row 2 – 10. Dc in dc to end. Turn.

Stitch the sides together (2 and 2) and put the legs into the trousers. Attach dc in row 1 both sides together with sl st and dc top of row 1 first one side then the other side so that the trouser legs now are combined together at the top. Dc one more round in dc.

Crochet peace symbol to use on wheels.

Use crochet hook size 1.25 and lacy yarn to crochet 4 x peace symbols to attach onto the wheels, and crochet 2 x peace symbols using green yarn and crochet hook size 3.0 to attach back of top side of the kombi bus. Click here for the peace symbol pattern.
