How to make a colourful fish using Scrap fabric
At the art centre where I work, we decided to tidy up all the scrap fabric laying around. We decided that because the satin pink scrap fabric was shaped as a triangle, it had the perfect shape as a fish.
Scrap Fabric Fish Materials
In the fish above, we used Satin pink, felt purple, a satin pillowcase with flower design, craft filling, 2 x green buttons, 1 x red button, 2 x pink shell beads, 1 x seashell bead, sewing machine.
Scrap Fabric Fish Sewing Instructions
Step 1. Cut the main body into the same shape as the picture of pink satin below.
Step 2. Cut out flower design from a pillowcase (or any other cool design).
Step 3. Sew flower design onto the pink satin main body of fish.
Step 4. Cut out purple felt head and tail in shape as below.
Step 5. With right sides, together, stitch edges together.
Step 6. Fold fish in half with right sides together. Leave about 10 cm open to fill in the stuffing. Stitch up the opening with wrong sides together. Begin to sew the fin. Put to triangles of purple felt together and stitch up with wrong sides together. Before you stitch up completely, fill in the stuffing. Attach to the body of fish where the opening was just closed.
Step 7. Decorate with buttons for eyes, and mouth, and shell beads on the fins. 🙂
